Have you been following all the adventures of the traveling Meerkats?
Wait, what do you mean you've never heard of the Meerkats!?
They've even got their own Facebook Fan page!
It all started rather innocently...sorta.
The fabulous Niftyknits makes these oh so wonderfully adorable Meerkats and got it into her head to send not one but two of them out into the world to be hosted by many of her Etteam, (Etsy treasury makers) team mates all over the world in which said host would make something for the little Meerkat to take along in his/her journey.
At the end of the exciting journey the aforementioned fabulous Niftyknits would then hold a giveaway to decide where each of the little Meerkats, and said goodies, would get to go live.
The first little Meerkat Etta had quite an adventure which you can read all about right here. She has already gone to her fabulous new home.
The second little Meerkat vanished along the way to her next host. I'm really hoping that little Treasure is laying about on a beach somewhere sunning himself or maybe on the plane they got to watch the movie Madagascar and it gave him ideas, hmmm.
Niftyknits sent a third Meerkat out into the world and Alchemy is on his way here next, yay!
Right now little Alchemy is wrapping up his goodbyes at Waterroses' place.
I'm pretty excited about taking Alchemy out into the big wide world known as Las Vegas. Here's hoping we don't get into too much trouble along the way.

Happy Easter!
I hope that everyone is having a fabulous Easter!
I've been a bad blogger of late but with the best intentions. Though this last week has seen me hit hard with a bout of pneumonia that still seems to be lingering. It's little things like this that make you realize how fortunate we are for simple things like antibiotics, a soft pillow and something 'anything' to watch on the television when we are feeling our worst. Not to mention chicken noodle soup, an absolute staple in this household although it was oranges that I craved after 4 days of being unable to eat anything at all.
I will attempt to make it all up to you with lots of pictures this go around.
A friend brought me this lovely "stump" of grass that made its way into a photo shoot with some new birds and friends.

Having An Egg-Cellent Day!
It's a bad pun I know but I just don't seem to be able to help myself.
After having the Ninja Eggs over for a bit I seem to have gone off in a decidedly egg-ish direction.
Not being well known for my culinary skills this two eggs in one shell thing came as a total shock to me, apparently, according to a friend at work who cooks regularly, this happens frequently.
I still felt bad even as I was racing to find my camera and snap a picture before my eggs stuck permanently to the bottom of my pan.

Apparently I can boil water! Hehe. These fabulous eggs were made quite simply. Using a technique that a customer, (RetroVertigo) from my LeftOverFishstikks store pointed me in the direction of over at Martha Stewart. Now usually Martha gets me in a world of trouble, case in point being the marshmallow monstrosity, but these silk fabric dyed eggs were super easy.
Aren't they gorgeous! I simply used a variety of silk (from LeftOverFishStikks) and Martha's technique (actually one of her assistants' aunts' technique) and dyed them in a pot of boiling water.

Freecycle Story
Now I love my Freecycle.
Keeps me from throwing perfectly good 'junk' out and lets me take perfectly good junk from someone else who no longer wants it.
If you haven't freecycled lately, what's stopping you?
The premise is quite simple really. Say I have some leftover paint that I no longer need. Perfectly good paint but honestly, how much deep gloss orange can a body use in a lifetime and when I'm holding onto one full gallon and another partial, well, lets face it something has got to give.
I post my paint on the board and anyone who sees it and is interested in it simply contacts me. I then chose the person I would like to give it to and they come and pick it up.
I can either choose to be home and give it to them or leave it someplace outside and they can then pick it up at their leisure.
I LOVE this system and have met so many truly wonderful people this way. Several of which actually live in my immediate neighborhood, hehe, small world.
I have even had one or two people bring stuff to me that I could use in exchange for what I was giving them and in the case of my kitchen counters that I tore out in order to update (from the 70's style mind you) I even had the recipients break down and cry. You see they had 4 bare walls in the small house they just purchased and my old counter tops were a blessing for them.
I love Freecycle.
Sooo, this brings me to the 'incident' today.
I posted an old metal tube awning sans cover. Huge awning. One of my requestors sent me 2 e-mails, all caps, PLEASE CALL ME I WANT THIS AWNING!!
Here's the phone call:
Hello?
Hi, is Lois there? ...........................(Not her real name, changed to protect the inane)
Who?
Lois?
Who's calling?
Harriet ............................................(Hehe, not my real name to protect ME from the inane)
Who?
Harriet.
Why do you want Lois?
I'm calling about the ad I had on Freecycle.
What?
My name is Harriet and I'm calling about the ad I had on Freecycle.
Oh, hold on a minute.
(In the background)
You have a phone call
Who is it?
Harriet.
I don't know a Harriet!
She says she's calling about an ad on Freecycle.
I don't have an ad on Freecycle right now!
(Voices coming closer to the phone now)
No, she says she has an ad on Freecycle.
I don't know WHAT this Harriet is talking about I DON'T have a current ad on Freecy...click.
I'm guessing she really wasn't all that interested after all...hehe.

Come Meet The Girls!
Happy pretty little birds are we.
Dear Winifred likes to write letters, especially on typewriters. She doesn't like all that newfangled gadgetry.
Sweet sweet little Olivia. She likes to play dress up.
Little Harriet has an affinity for pears. Especially little green not-quite-ripe ones.
Georgia loves those little sweet hearts. You know the ones with the cute little sayings on them. The kind you always got for Valentine's Day. Hers says simply "Be Mine".
